Handmade Quilt Skirt- 1940s Checkered
Handmade Quilt Skirt- 1940s Checkered
This skirt is made from a vintage checkered quilt. When it was found, it had lots of tears and separations, so why not use the good parts for a skirt:) There batting between the two layers, I would say this a light weight quilt. Judging by the fabric style, and that it is all hand-stitched, I would say this is from the 1940s-1950s. This skirt is cut in an 3 panel a-line patterns and features an elastic waistband to fit a variety of sizes
Color Scheme: Ivory, Reds, Pinks, Blues, Tans, Browns
Approx Age: This quilt was probably from the 1940s-1950s, handmade recently
Fabric: no tags, but I would say its all cotton
Condition: Very Good wearable condition, the elastic is new and super stretchy, no holes noted ( I believe I have repaired them all), please note while this is hand-washed, there is some discolorations that add to the lovliness of the piece
Waist: stretches from 24 inches to 34 inches around
Hips: up to 43 inches around
Total Length: 29.5 inches from top to bottom
