Handmade High Waist Quilt Shorts -Ultra Rare 1870s Flour Sack Tulip Applique

These shorts are made from an antique Tulip Applique Quilt. There is a very light batting between the two layers, but I would say this a light weight quilt. Judging by the fabric, style, and that it is all hand stitched and it is heavily embroidered, I would say this is from the 1870s-1890s. This short in cut in a 70s running short pattern and have a high waist and elastic waistband to fit a variety of sizes. 

Color Scheme: Ivory, Green, Red

Approx Age: This quilt was probably made in the 1870s-1890s, handmade recently

Fabric: no tags, but I would say its all cotton, the cotton is very soft, I would say its flour sacks

Condition: Very Good wearable condition, the elastic is new and super stretchy, no holes  noted (I believe I have repaired them all), please note, this quilt is oldddddd, it has lots of wear on the tulip appliques that I have left as it doesn't effect the structure or sturdiness of the pant, the ivory flour sack areas also have some wear as well, I have repaired all the weak points, but there is still some wear areas for the vibe of this short. While this has been hand- washed, there still may be a few areas of light discolorations that add to the loveliness of the piece

Waist: stretches from 22 inches to 37 inches around

Rise:  15.5  inches from base of crotch to top of pants

Inseam: 2 inches from base of crotch to end of pants

Hips: up to 45 inches around

Thigh: 30 inches around

Total Length: 15 inches from top to bottom
