Handmade Petticoat Skirt-Ultra Rare 1870s Embroidered Linen Counterpane with Linen Embroidered Ruffle Trim
Handmade Petticoat Skirt-Ultra Rare 1870s Embroidered Linen Counterpane with Linen Embroidered Ruffle Trim
This is a new style that I'm going to be offering :) This skirt is inspired by Victorian petticoats that I have ALWAYS been obsessed with
This skirt is made from an antique embroidered linen counterpane and embroidered linen trim. While these are 2 separate pieces. I got them from the same place, the counterpane had a note pinned on it that said:
"Part of a counterpane now called bedspread, made by my grandmother Hoffman probably around 1870"
The linen ruffle trim was from the same trunk, but I believe its newer, probably 1940s-1950s. This skirt is cut in an A-Line pattern and features a full ruffle trim and elastic waistband to fit a variety of sizes.
Color Scheme: White
Approx Age: The counterpane body probably made in the 1870s, the linen ruffle trim, probably 1940s-1950s, handmade recently
Fabric: no tags, but I believe the counterpane body is linen as well as the trim
Condition: Very Good wearable condition, no holes noted, please note, while I have soaked this in retro clean for 12 hours, there are still some very light discolorations that add to the lovliness of the piece
Waist: stretches from 26 inches to 38 inches around
Hips: up to 48 inches around
Total Length: 40 inches from top to bottom
