Handmade Barrel Cactus Clay Planter/Sculpture
Individually created by hand from Mexican clay, these rustic planters make for the perfect home for a small cactus or succulent. Every vessel features a bottom drainage hole, four feet to hold the piece off of a surface, along with side spines that show the fingerprints of the maker. After the pieces are formed by hand and dried in a cool, shady room, they’re pit fired using traditional production processes. These sweet neutrals look as lovely indoors as they do on a patio, surrounded by friends and family.
Artisan
This elderly maker has been working with clay for over fifty years. Her town in the central valley of Oaxaca, Mexico sits at over 1,500 meters above sea level and is famed for pottery works, particularly ones with a shiny green glaze. Locals in this region have been working with clay for over 4,000 years and wood fueled kilns that are used in this town resemble those that were found during excavations of Monte Albán. Together with her family, she creates simple, utilitarian designs that celebrate both her town and family history.
