Handmade Petticoat Skirt-Ultra Rare 1870s Embroidered Linen Counterpane with Eyelet Ruffle Trim
Handmade Petticoat Skirt-Ultra Rare 1870s Embroidered Linen Counterpane with Eyelet Ruffle Trim
This is a new style that I'm going to be offering :) This skirt is inspired by Victorian petticoats that I have ALWAYS been obsessed with
This skirt is made from an antique embroidered linen counterpane and eyelet trim. While these are 2 separate pieces. I got them from the same place, the counterpane had a note pinned on it that said
"Part of a counterpane now called bedspread, made by my grandmother Hoffman probably around 1870"
The eyelet ruffle trim I believe was part of a Victorian night dress that was cut and placed in the same trunk and I believe from the same area as the eyelet and embroidery appear hand done. This skirt is cut in an A-Line pattern and features a full ruffle trim and elastic waistband to fit a variety of sizes.
Color Scheme: White
Approx Age: These pieces were probably made in the 1870s-1890s, handmade recently
Fabric: no tags, but I believe the counterpane body is linen and the trim is cotton
Condition: Very Good wearable condition, no holes noted, please note, while I have soaked this in retro clean for 12 hours, there are still some very light discolorations that add to the lovliness of the piece
Waist: stretches from 24 inches to 36 inches around
Hips: up to 50 inches around
Total Length: 41 inches from top to bottom
