Handmade Quilt Skirt- Rare 1870s Indigo Sun
Handmade Quilt Skirt- Rare 1870s Indigo Sun
These this skirt is made from an antique sun quilt When it was found, someone had already cut lots of pieces out that were too damaged to use, so why not use the good parts for a skirt:) There is a light batting between the two layers, so I would say this a light weight quilt. Judging by the fabric, style, and that it is all hand stitched, and it appears the fabric is indigo dyed and raw cotton, I would say this is from the mid 1800s-early 1900s. This skirt features an elastic waistband to fit a variety of sizes
Color Scheme: White and Indigo
Approx Age: This quilt was probably made in the mid 1800s-early 1900s, handmade recently
Fabric: no tags, but I would say its all cotton
Condition: Very Good wearable condition, the elastic is new and super stretchy, please note, there are several areas that I have repaired and patched to make it wearable, I didn't want to over work this quilt so there area a couple of small surface wear spots (I'll try to show these in the photos), no stains noted
Waist: stretches from 22 inches to 28 inches around
Hips: up to 42 inches around
Total Length: 34 inches from top to bottom
